News Sep 2, 2009 Biathlon Postponed - Birthday Challenge Nov. 7 BentLovers & Friends We have decided to postpone the Biathlon this Saturday. The Labor Day holiday has cut back on participants, and the challenge of the event has been an obstacle to some, as well. We will keep you posted. If you have made plans to participate, feel free to join us for the Bread Ride at the Ride South shop at 7:15 AM, and then hit the beach with your watercraft! Many thanks to those who have offered to help!! The Sunset Series Rides continues to grow, and glow, with lighted cyclists watching the colorful sunset across the water! Last evening, "red sky at night" was indeed a cyclist's delight! Saw a couple of sailors out, too. Join us at 6:00 PM from the shop, or 6:10 at Kroger, or on the trail near the YMCA. Some folks are leaving a bit earlier to get in the miles. A great way to end the day on Tuesdays and Thursdays! The Birthday Challenge is a premier event for everyone! If you haven't heard of it, just look at the movies and pics on our website. Folks come from all over to ride their age on the fantastic Longleaf Trace! Each year, on the first Saturday in November, Ride South offers a mass start on the Prentiss end of the trace at 9:00 AM. This year, we hope to have bike representatives, tents, and great prizes, including a bike giveaway! The Birthday Challenge committee plans to have food, cake and the popular medallions that signify your challenge has been met! Below is a form for the event from the Longleaf Trace Birthday Challenge Committee. The Cancer Ride on September 19th is approaching, as is the Natchez or Bust (NOB) Ride on September 26th. You can choose your mileage on the Cancer Ride, but the Natchez or Bust ride has only two options . . . Natchez or bust :-) Seriously though, we will have sag support, and transportation back after dinner. Please indicate your interest right away so we can plan better. There is a $30 fee for SAG and lunch for the NOB. Dinner is on your on. We usually eat at the Magnolia Grille, overlooking the Mississippi River. Launch time is 7:00 AM from the Ride South shop. Please plan to launch from the shop if you want to participate! We need SAG if you are available! Additions to the Rise & Shine Bread Ride last Saturday, included an upgrade to the A ride and some more miles for those interested. Some riders peeled off the Rez ride to tour Pelahatchie and get in 70-80 miles. There was only a smattering of bread left by the time they came in, so help us plan for it if you plan to extend your ride! Also, let us know early if you are a newbie or want to do the 15-20 mile C ride. All are welcome! info@ridesouth.com RideSouth.com 105 Avalon Court Brandon, MS 39047 601 992-2490 888 822-3647 Ride South . . . The Way to Ride! View All News |
