News Aug 19, 2006 Natchez or Bust and other rides BentLovers & Friends: Here is a proposed itinerary for the Natchez or Bust Ride on August 19th. We need a list of riders and sag vehicles. My trailer is available to transport 6-8 bikes. We need drivers and sag vehicles if anyone is interested. Please provide feedback as to your specific wishes: Tentative Itinerary Friday Evening August 18th: Dinner meeting and final planning. Place TBA. Time 7-8:30 PM Saturday Morning August 19th: All riders launch at 6:00 AM from the Ride South shop. We will cross the spillway and enter the Natchez Trace from the bike trail in Ridgeland at the Craft Center. The first rest stop will be at the Clinton Visitor's Center on the Natchez Trace, approximately 20 miles. Rest stops will be set up about every 20 miles along the Trace by the volunteer sag vehicles. We will need help and support from Support and Gear (SAG) drivers. We will provide sandwiches and pasta for two refueling stops along the way. Anyone knowing of a supplier wishing to help, let us know. Saturday Evening . . . many miles later . . . we will arrive in Natchez: Riders wishing to stay overnight let me know and we will see about reserving rooms at the Comfort Inn. Otherwise, after a shower at the Natchez State Park (10 miles from Natchez and about 2 miles off the Trace), we will meet at Magnolia Grille (see link below), overlooking the Mississippi River, for a relaxed dinner and then drive back to Jackson. We will make dinner reservations after confirmation of attendance at the Friday dinner meeting. Obviously, the time will be flexible since some riders will get there up to 2 hours earlier. Again, this is a working plan, so if you have suggestions, let us know. The ride is about 110 miles and we will have from 6 AM until to complete. Please let us know if you are interested and can help! Other News: Today, Thursday, we plan to initiate the Thursday Sunset BaySpin on the Pelahatchie Bay. Bring your kayak and tour the bay, get in a little aerobic exercise, and have some good fellowship. We will launch from the Pelahatchie Landing, near the Causeway, at 6:15 PM. A great way to end the day! Saturdays: We would like to invite all for the RezRounder Ride on Saturday mornings! This has been a great 34 mile ride around the beautiful Ross Barnett Reservoir. We need a ride leader to show the way to new riders wishing to take a bit more time to enjoy the view at a pace of 12-15 mph. If you are interested, please let us know and plan to be at the shop Saturday Morning, ready to ride, a bit before 7:00 AM. Wednesdays: We have been riding on Wednesdays on the trails and out to Fannin. This is a great ride across the Causeway from the shop. Call us if you would like to attend. The pace and route can vary as your mileage may vary! View All News |
