News Mar 3, 2009 Tenth Anniversary News A lot can happen in ten years. Many of you have heard our story of a crippled mechanical engineer going mobile on a trike, and then, into the bicycle/kayak retail business. Soon after, Major Pain joined our sales force and began showing folks a different point of view on cycling, not necessarily better (if you factor in peer pressure and higher initial cost), just different. More importantly, we saw Lane go from a non-cyclist to a MS 150 rider in no time, finding a low impact sport that was fun for her to do! We have tried to build on that impetus by offering products and services that give folks the tools, and motivation, to exceed their own expectations. We have witnessed many stories over the years, much better than our own stories, but too numerous to list here. Just the thought of the Smiths, Pardues, Mikeals, Blackledges, Sullivans, Mosals, Hearns, Scotts, Stephensons, DeRosias and many, many other families bring forward a world of memories we wish we could share with you! Some are still riding/kayaking and some are not. We truly miss those of our friends who have passed on and are indeed blessed with the memories we have. We also miss those who have curtailed their riding/kayaking for a time. Perhaps we will publish our own storybook one day. Over the years, we have made plenty of mistakes, for sure. And we have learned to not expect loyalty, but to embrace it and reward it when it occurs. On that note, we have extended our special discount on bikes/kayaks in stock to all previous Ride South bike/kayak purchasers, at least through March, 2009. Thank you! As we have stated on many occasions, we wish we could give our products, services and knowledge away more freely, but we all know that would not last very long! So, if you find us a bit protective of our business these days, know that we plan to survive these troubling times. In fact, we expect to soon receive a shipment of exciting new Hobie kayaks and Marin Bicycles! We hope you will check these out! Lane & I are profoundly grateful to all of you for your support, loyalty, kind words and even criticism. It all makes us stronger and more determined than ever to keep on! We cherish the memories of past relationships and events, and look forward to more in the near future. We have exciting long range plans for the distant future, as well. We hope to Ride South through the present and into that brighter future . . . and we hope to see you there!
