News May 12, 2009 Bike to work week & News It is sometimes easy to put off riding your bike when you have other transportation. Heck, riding bikes is supposed to be fun, not work! Why would anyone associate bike riding with getting to work? Well, this week millions of folks are riding their bikes to work. Some of these folks are in our country and some of these folks are even in our state! We have seen a few ride-to-work cyclists in our town, and we applaud them! We hope you will join them! It's safe, it's green and it's good exercise. Do you know that Mississippi is now ranked as #24 in bicycle friendly states!! Here is a link! http://www.bikeleague.org/programs/bicyclefriendlyamerica/bicyclefriendlystate/rankings.php We had great rides last weekend on the Bread Ride, Saturday, and the Ice Cream Ride, Sunday. The shady route to Cooper's grocery was very pleasant and the ice cream was good! We are sure to do this route again! Join us this Saturday for the Rise & Shine Bread Ride, SCHEDULED TO LAUNCH AT 7:30 AM. Please be at the shop at least 15 minutes earlier to prepare! If you are uncomfortable with riding on the roads, or the distance, hook up with the group at Fannin Landing, or on the bike trails. Just be sure to finish at the shop for the fresh bread! Remember, we will host the Reservoir Biathlon Series kickoff at Fannin Landing on June 6th at 6:45 AM. We are looking forward to seeing you there! Come by the shop to sign up. We will not have the Bread Ride on June 6th and June 13th due to the Biathlon events, and we will probably open the shop an hour later! We have had less than stellar response for the Choctaw Ride on May 24th and 25th, but that hasn't stopped us from having fun in the past! If you have interest, please call us today (Tuesday) to reserve a room. Good luck to Doug Morgan this weekend as he rides the 150 mile Ride of Love event for Camp Smile-A-Mile! We hope he doesn't have to use his brakes as much this year! We will all be supporting him! The Ride for Life is another benefit ride on Saturday, May 23rd. We hope you can participate in this ride which supports Christmas Village and has rides for everyone, and includes lunch!
