Journal Entry Oct 4, 2003 Cancer Benefit Ride An exciting start for the annual cancer benefit ride found us bent riders at the head of a pack of upright bike riders again this year! With a look of determination, Pam launched her V2 out of the Healthplex parking lot to lead about 150 bikers down the streets of Clinton. Lane (V-Rex), Mark (Stratus), Press (Stratus), Bill (spanking new Bacchetta Strada), and this rider (V2) followed closely while Jim Lee (Rocket) bided his time so he could lead the pack later on his century ride. In time we all settled into a comfortable gait for our individual rides of from 50-110 miles for the day. Bill did the 110, exploring the trace down to Rocky Springs and beyond on his very comfortable Strada. Way to go, Bill! Lane & Pam made the 50 mile turnaround while Press, Mark and this rider opted for the 64.5 mile turnaround (that's a metric century plus calculator error :-)). Ron & Bob joined Lane and this rider Sunday to get ready for the back-to-back riding due on the 25th and 26th of October during the MS 150. We split up to do from 15-40 miles and rode with Bob as he tested his new suspension hub system on his Hot Rod Rocket, which turns those bumpy roads and bridges into a silky smooth ride! You can still sign up for the long or short rides of the MS 150 to Vicksburg and join the fun! It's a great feeling to enjoy the countryside while burning a few calories! Everyone has a great time and usually meets new friends along the way! Here are a few comments overheard, or passed on from some of the BentLovers: Others: If you placed a big rock under your seat cover, that's the way I feel on this bike! BentLover: Smile Others: Do you want to sign up for a massage for your back? BentLover: Why? Others: Man, those bikes really descend! BentLover: Life is downhill. Others: Are you as comfortable as you look? BentLover: Yes. Others: I didn't know you could be comfortable AND go so fast! BentLover: Smile Thanks for helping to spread the word to your friends and neighbors and continuing to help the rest of the folks find their way to Ride South . . . The Way to Ride!
