Journal Entry Mar 13, 2005 . . . we experienced a thirty-something mile round trip, the only car seen, driven by a friendly park ranger! There are all sorts of therapy. We think the best kinds are physical, group, and environmental therapy. Sunday, we experienced all of these riding on the new section of the Natchez Trace. Not officially open, we experienced a thirty-something mile round trip, the only car seen, driven by a friendly park ranger! Only new, smooth pavement, bright green grassy banks, rolling fields, and beautiful blue sky. Sure, there were the tire eating expansion joints at each unfinished bridge, but we honed our dismounting and mounting skills and made it without a mishap. We even coaxed a train engineer to sound the whistle, as loads of wood chips passed beneath us at one overpass, filling the air with fresh cut cedar aroma. Sometimes it's great to be a kid again! It was great launching down the Trace in such a large, diverse group of bents from the Natchez Trace Craft Center! If you missed the ride, or would like to go again this Sunday, please e-mail us and we will put the word out! Your mileage may vary, but this is truly a ride for everyone! Time's a-wasting . . . the Trace will be open soon! View All Journal Entries |
