Journal Entry May 22, 2005 After many land and nautical miles were covered this weekend, and a few pounds dropped . . . After many land and nautical miles were covered this weekend, and a few pounds dropped, we again convinced ourselves, and others, we hope, of the Way to Ride! The Trace connection is a great place to ride and an excellent gateway to the south we have not had before, from here in Rankin County. We had quite a few cool BentLovers riding at high noon from the Craft Center. Thanks to all for being there! After less than 15 miles of historical riding, we had just missed the 500 or so visitors who came to witness the ceremony. There were still plenty of folks asking about our laid back riding style at the new Clinton Welcome Center and we enjoyed meeting them while we toured the new facility before heading back. There were also folks asking about out laid back paddling style on the Hobie kayaks Sunday afternoon. It was fun to cross the rez and land at Hobie Beach with all the catamarans. We visited with the sailors for a while as they tested our kayaks (thanks Keith, Tex & Jean!) and then headed back to Rankin County. Thanks to Jean and Theresa for providing the sag pontoon boat! Next time we need to have kayaks for both of you ladies! We understand there was plenty of fun and fellowship at the wildlife refuge paddle Saturday morning as well, gators and all! Wish we could have made that as well. We have some great pics from the event taken by Debbie & Jean, who are original members of the soon to be famous niknaR kayaK Club! Stay tuned for more info! Thanks also to Mic for driving all the way down from Cleveland, MS to ride Round th' Rez with us on Sunday morning and calling today to say what a great ride it is! Yes, we are fortunate indeed to have so many choices for our recreation hours! Just wish we had more hours for our recreational choices! We will be at the Rankin Chamber of Commerce Expo tomorrow, May 24th from 3-6 PM. Please come by the Hinds Community College Rankin Campus (off hwy 80 in Pearl) and visit us. There will be plenty of door prizes and Expo specials on new arrival kayaks and bikes! Come by and see the Outback Fisherman, the RANS Dynamic and other cool stuff! View All Journal Entries |
