Journal Entry Jun 4, 2005 New Orleans Ride Report Every year we say it . . . it sure is a lot of trouble to drive to New Orleans just to ride your bicycle! We also say, on the way back, what a great time we had in the Big Easy riding our bicycle! Sure, the air was a bit wet for a few minutes, but the clouds kept it cool and made the Screamer tandem we rode seem even cooler as we easily navigated the historic city streets on Sunday morning, sporting our yellow shirts and Ride South flag. Keith & Jean seem to have a good time on their EZ Sports, taking pictures and movies the whole way. We rode the easy pace in front for the first half of the 26 mile tour and then switched to the back of the 1000 rider pack to see some new faces. Speaking of faces, everyone got a kick out of seeing a native Orleans lady putting on hers, standing at the roadside waiting for the multitude to pass. For the most part everyone took the slight delay in stride. We tried to catch Bob on his Kett Wiesel the rest of the way back as we passed the French Market and Hooters, where all the waitresses came out to exchange hoots with the guys. Bob seemed to ride a bit faster after that exchange. It was great fun visiting with Ghant (RANS Formula) & Shawn (future BentLover :')) on the bikes and at the pre-ride dinner at Vincent's, in Metairie. The food was fantastic and the complementary bottle of wine was great! We wish everyone could have joined us! Thank you Vincent & Ghant! Back at the park, the party afterwards thinned out quickly leaving plenty of food, beer and music to be enjoyed by us cool folks in the air conditioned pavilion at City Park. A nice touch! We will definitely go to the trouble to do it again next year. You should too! View All Journal Entries |
