Journal Entry Aug 19, 2006 Natchez or Bust-Ride South! BentLovers & Friends: What a ride! We are pleased to report that everyone had a great time and no one busted! The hot August weather (104ºF) was no match for a strong group of riders covering the 107 miles from the shop to the Natchez State Park on Saturday! The key factor was the excellent support of our SAG team, Lane, Charlene, and Jean. Three SAG vehicles cruised the route, providing hydration and food for faster and slower riders. Without them, we could not have made it! Many thanks!! We left the shop a bit behind schedule at 6:45 AM, stopping in Clinton to regroup. The SAG team provided fuel along the way with a lunch stop at Rocky Springs. The road got a bit course for awhile, but the traffic was very light and the fields of hay, dry creek beds and tree lines glided by as we made our way through several well needed rest stops and into the roller coaster hills of the park. After cooling down a bit we took our $0.50 showers and began sweating again! After everyone had made it in and changed, we loaded up the bikes and vehicles to drive the 13 miles to the Magnolia Grill restaurant, overlooking the Mississippi River, for a great dinner in Natchez! The vote at dinner was unanimous that we make the ride an annual event! After dinner and some good fellowship, we loaded up the vehicles and cruised back to the shop, arriving on schedule by 9:30-9:45. We are very proud of all the riders who went, some bettering their previous distance record by 3 times! Thanks to all for your support! We will plan for next year!
