Ride Report 12/8/07

Well, everyone had a great time on the rides this weekend! If you missed the events, we hope you were enjoying the fantastic weather here in Mississippi. Lane led the Bay Ride with a spirited group, and the Rez Rounders introduced a wedgie rider, new to the group, to the fun you can have on a bent! Some serious calories must have been burned as the hot carrot bread and blackberry jam quickly disappeared. Doug was the rabbit this trip, and no one believes he did not deploy the small rocket engine embedded in the underbelly of his new Carbon Aero!

Our Sunday Yogi Bear Ride, a recovery ride for this rider (!), spotlighted a much improved, grey bearded Alan exclaiming like Santa in his sleigh, as we flew down the hills at 49 mph on the way back from the 45 mile ride. As we neared the end of the ride, even with the gotta-go urge prominent, we brought the pace down crossing the causeway, to absorb the magnificent sunset on the reservoir! The colors were vivid and the view was stunning. No snow, no ice, just 80 degrees in the middle of December!

A first hand experience of a near incident on hwy 43 (as in move over . . . QUICK!) has prompted this rider to run front flashing, white lights when riding, even in the daylight. A few bucks for batteries is a small price to be more visible out there. Of course, good red lights in the rear are always recommended. Wear the bright colors, also!

We will have a repeat of the events this coming weekend, so plan your weekend around the fun! Lane will not be able to lead the Bay Ride, so we need someone to volunteer for the duty. We are still working on our holiday schedule and sorta planning a Longleaf Trace ride in early January. Maybe another June in January event on another warm Saturday!
