Journal Entry May 25, 2009 Ride Report: Memorial Day Round th' Rez BentLovers & Friends Time. What a luxury to have. Monday, with American flags waving, we launched from the shop, on schedule, just behind some summer rain showers . . . a small parade to honor our heroes fallen, and celebrate our freedom. There were no time restraints as on our Saturday Bread Rides, so we relaxed and took in the beautiful Mississippi landscapes up the Trace, then through Pisgah, Pelahatchie, Shiloh and Brandon, about 75 miles in all, of very quiet roads bordering fields, horses, cattle and farms with long white fences. The fresh, after-rain air was invigorating as were the BBQ smells from smoking, holiday grilles. A couple of pauses at an old general store and new water park gave a mix of nostalgia and modernism that added to the experience. Tree canopied roads blocked the surprisingly present sun, and supplemented the mixture of cool and warm air that had sparked the storms earlier. Timing was perfect as the rain began again ten minutes after arriving back at the shop. Even the single flat tire couldn't put a damper on the day! Yes, we are grateful for the time we have and grateful for the liberty to experience our great state on two (or three) wheels! We hope your day was as rewarding! Join us for the next adventure! Next Adventure: Reservoir Biathlon Series, June 6th and 13th, Fannin Landing, Cycling & Kayaking. Call the shop for details! View All Journal Entries |
